Healthcare is one of the largest components of the US economy and is the single costliest employee expense only behind salary. The United States spends nearly double the per capita cost over the next nearest country, yet ranks 38th in the world in quality of healthcare. For most companies, the cost of health insurance and health related expenses are severely impacting company operations, with many organizations reducing coverage, or dropping health insurance coverage altogether. Back pain is the single largest component of company health expenses, is the most common cause of job related disability and missed work with over 175 MILLION work days lost each year and over $50 billion spent. More than 65 million Americans suffer from lower back pain.
The following research project is designed to study a cost effective health care solution that may be able to eliminate the pain long term, restore normal function and significantly reduce expenses and lost work days all without drugs, surgery or complicated treatments. A recent pilot study has demonstrated the validity of this concept with overwhelming, remarkable success. A larger, multi-site study is now needed to further test the model and validate the results to be able to offer Corporate America relief from this burden on not only their budget, but the American economy.
Whereas conventional treatment consists of medications for pain relief, rest, continuing chiropractic care, physical therapy, acupuncture, or when all else fails, surgery and long-term drug therapy, a new, natural based approach is to be investigated.
Under this new cost-effective program, patients will be solicited that have had a conventional medical diagnosis and care for back pain and the results have not eliminated the problem.
This program will consist of a five part system of health restoration:
1. Each patient will be thoroughly assessed using new, state of the art, non-invasive technology, which could be based on electrodeval screening, neural conductivity, thermography and tissue inflammation stress response. In addition, an extensive comprehensive history and evaluation will be performed to identify all of the underlying stressors, burdens and causative pathways that may be contributing to the condition of pain.
2. After all the obstacles to health and any on-going stressors are identified, as many as possible will be removed, which may include lifestyle and diet modification. In addition, a customized program will be developed for each patient, which will include detoxification of accumulated toxic waste in tissues (commonly known to cause tissue irritation and inflammation); low level laser and infrared energy designed to increase blood flow and circulation; low energy light beam stimulation and water massage to increase lymphatic drainage of waste and trapped fluid accumulation; a highly sophisticated computer controlled spinal decompression unit designed to reduce entrapped nerve inflammation and increase disc regeneration; and electromagnetic stimulation and ultrasound to move fluids, reduce inflammation and stimulate nerve repair and regeneration.
3. The third phase is to restore normal working systems of the body, encourage the healing response of the tissues, regenerate damaged cells and restore normal function.
4. Phase four is to strengthen, rebuild and continue to exercise structure for functional support.
5. The fifth and final phase is to monitor, test and follow-up to continue long-term healing and regeneration, as well as insure long-term success pain and drug free with normal mobility and function.
