I work with client's that have been recipients of your beds.  One of these people is a lady that received a full size bed from you this year.  She was reluctant to accept the donation because it may be something someone needed more than her.  She was sleeping on an old "open spring" with two 2" foam pads on top of it.  I could press the two pads flat between my thumb and finger.  Her spring was so bent that the center of the bed was a U shape and had to crawl up to get out of her bed.  She was so tickled when we arrived, she just sat down and got up several times.  She was going to make her bedroom pretty and decorate it.  This is the first time she will ever have her clothes on hangers in her closet instead of boxes on the floor.  When visiting with her recently, she stated "I just love my bed.  It is the very first new bed I have ever had."  Thank you for all you do to make this program possible.  We get to have the bonus of seeing them received and their responses.  They have a hard time believing that it's happening, but when it does, to a person they are deeply touched and appreciative; as are we.

Social Worker

On behalf of our clients who receive the beds you donate, and my workers who have the joy of connecting "beds to bodies", I would like to take this opportunity to express my heart felt appreciating for including us in your donations.  Many times our clients have disabilities that chronically interfere with recuperative sleep.  The lack of sleep increases symptoms that can soon become unmanageable.  The beds gifted over the years represent the first and fundamental block on which the road to recovery begins.  Most recently, a bed was given to a young man who suffered a traumatic brain injury several years ago.  He was homeless, impoverished and in legal difficulty with nowhere to go.  I cannot describe adequately this young man's gratitude and appreciation.  I can only say after 28 years in my field, there are still moments that can bring tears to my eyes, his reaction to your gift was one of those moments.  Today, this young man is able to keep an apartment of his own, is a dependable worker, is helpful to others that have a difficult time and often credits his ability to sleep with the progress he has made in the last three months.  Thank you for your generosity and for your willingness to reach as deeply as humanly possible to share your gifts.

A married woman with five children had an abusive husband.  Finally, after many years of abuse, she got the courage to leave.  She was able to get an apartment, but had barely any furniture.  Her children had nothing to sleep on.  All they had was one big air mattress to sleep on.  Because of Becker Foundation, she and all her children have their own beds.  Because of you she has made it in her new apartment and has now started a new, happy, abuse free life for her and her children.  Thank you so much.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your generous furniture donation.  The couch, love seat and coffee table that my clients received was more generous than the family ever dreamed.  I personally think this program is wonderful and wanted to express my sincere gratitude.

I wanted to thank you for coordinating to these 2 families.  Because of your help, thirteen children have beds to sleep on this holiday season.

We would like to thank you for the bed.  The recipient is benefiting from the bed and enjoys having her own space to sleep.  Thank you.

You helped an individual who had lost everything when she was hospitalized for health problems.  The client's family threw out all of her furniture and possessions.  This individual now has a new home and is rebuilding her life, and you helped make it all possible.  Thanks again for all of the wonderful work you do!

In the spirit of giving to those in need, we are truly blessed to connect with members of the community such as you.  On behalf of the Harbor Light Center clients and staff, I would like to thank you for donating the bed, bed frame and box springs.  Your efforts help us to continue our mission in providing services to people often times viewed as hopeless by society.  Again, thank you for your very generous donation.

We were able to coordinate services to a family in need and help them create a more comfortable home.  The family that received the beds were sleeping on a 20 year old mattress, and have already called to say thanks.  Thanks again!!

We would like to express our profoundest and most heartfelt gratitude for your support of our annual auction, it added quality and diversity to our items like never before.  Thanks to you, and other area merchants like you, we are fortunate to announce another extremely successful fund raising event.  Thank you again for your continued support and undeniable generosity.

We were able to provide a resource to help this family get back on their feet.  They lived in a shelter for several months and finding a place of their own and having furniture gives them a sense of stability.  This family had no beds.  They were sleeping on the floor in their apartment.  By providing beds you contributed to their well being, both physical and emotional.
